You’ll explore the world’s largest sand island from the comfort of a custom-built 4WD coach, as you learn about the ecology, wildlife, and history of this special place.
The local Butchulla custodians call the island “K’gari”, which means paradise, and once you arrive, you’ll soon see why…
Rainbow Beach: Tours depart Rainbow Beach (via Inskip Point). Check-in by 7.15am with tour departing at 7.45am.
Self-Driving: Rainbow Beach is approximately 3 hours drive north of Brisbane. Meet your guide at the Shell Service Station, 36 Rainbow Beach Road for a prompt 7.45am departure.
Courtesy Transfers: Pick ups are scheduled from 7am-7.50am. If you require a courtesy transfer from select locations in Rainbow Beach, please enter your pick-up location at the time of booking.This must be requested at least 48 hours prior to departure.
At the end of the second day, board the ferry back to Rainbow Beach where we will take you back to your accommodation (drop-off between 5.00pm and 5.30pm).
Travelling with Infants
All infants must be able to sit upright in a booster seat. K'gari Explorer does not provide booster seats, so please bring along.

Don’t forget to bring a little bit of spending money along with you. There is a general store at K'gari Beach Resort where you can pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time on the world famous K'gari!

Our 4WD coaches have been specifically designed to navigate the sandy tracks and unique terrain found on K'gari. They are air-conditioned, have panoramic windows and are capable of carrying 40 passengers.

Children over the age of one are welcome on all of our tours. If your child is under the age of eight, please provide them with a car seat. If you do not have a car seat, please call the Reservations Team before booking.
