10-Day Cambodia ‘Angkor & Beyond’ Select Journey

Your adventure starts in the exciting city of Siem Reap. If you arrive early, feel free to spend time exploring the old town where you can buy fresh fruit or clothes and gifts. At 6pm you’ll meet your Tour Leader and new travel mates at our hotel for a Welcome Night introduction. We’ll cover how Stray works and answer any questions you have about travelling in Cambodia. After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we’ll head to the UNESCO World Heritage site and iconic temple: Angkor Wat, for a full day of temple touring. Often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, Angkor Wat literally translates to ‘City of Temples’ and is the largest religious monument in the world. After your full day of exploring, you’ll arrive back at your hotel at around 5pm and you have an evening free to explore the nightlife on Pub Street. You have some more time to explore Angkor Wat this morning and then you have a free afternoon and evening to discover Siem Reap’s hidden gems. We highly recommend checking out a show at the Phare Circus this evening, which tells uniquely Cambodian stories in an entertaining and light-hearted way. All profits go to social projects for disadvantaged children so you can be sure your evening of enjoyment is also going to an amazing cause. After breakfast at your hotel this morning you’ll board a private, air-conditioned vehicle and embark on your 6-hour journey to Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. We’ll stop frequently along the way and on arrival in Phnom Penh you’ll have an evening orientation tour to get you acquainted with this energising capital city. Today, Cambodia’s history is brought to life with a tour of two of the country’s most infamous locations: the Khmer Rouge’s Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng S21 Prison. This sobering experience will likely feel surreal and we’ll learn more about the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge during the Cambodian genocide. Afterwards, we’ll head back to Phnom Penh and have lunch together at a local restaurant called Friends. Friends the Restaurant is an incredible organisation which seeks to help former street children and marginalised young people in Phnom Penh to build a future. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend exploring the area, stroll over to the Royal Palace or walk down to the waterfront and relax. Today we’ll travel by private vehicle to the coastal city of Sihanoukville. We’ll go straight to the wharf and board a 45-minute ferry to Koh Rong, a picturesque island known for its sandy shores and crystal waters. We’ll check in into our resort accommodation and go for a look around the island before settling in for the evening. Today is your first full free day to explore the island and enjoy the local activities. Take an island tour, go jet skiing, go for a stroll along the beach and watch an incredible sunset. Once night has descended, paddle into the water and see the bioluminescent plankton, an incredible natural phenomenon that can only be viewed in places with low light pollution. Enjoy another full free day on the island, lay in the sunshine, hike across the island or spend a day enjoying refreshing beverages and swimming in the ocean - you’re in paradise after all. Accommodation included: Scarlet Sails Resort or similar Meals included: Breakfast

This is your final morning on Koh Rong, enjoy a leisurely sleep in and go for a swim before boarding your private boat back to the mainland. We’ll board our vehicle on arrival and head back to Phnom Penh where we’ll check in to our accommodation and then go for our final group dinner.
