Whitsundays Islands Sailing - Solway Lass

Adventure Awaits

This 2 day 2 night exploration of the Whitsunday Islands will take you on board a truly unique vessel - the Solway Lass. Built in 1902, today the beautifully maintained vessel is reserved for expeditions of the Whitsundays, giving guests an 'old world' feel with modern luxuries and comforts. There is plenty to see and do over your stay on board Solway - snorkel coral reefs, take a coral viewing excursion in the glass bottom boat, swim in tropical waters, paddle board, bushwalk to scenic locations and visit Whitehaven Beach. Guests will get the chance to help set the massive sails or sit back and relax from an era long ago.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
All itineraries are flexible and subject to change depending on the prevailing breezes and tides.
Guests sailing with Solway Lass meet at Abell Point Marina in Airlie Beach for a 5:30 pm departure. There is time to check-in and organise luggage beforehand and once away, guests will enjoy a full dinner at 8:00 pm en route to the overnight anchorage spot.
Meal(s) : Dinner
Day 2 :
Breakfast is served early to fuel guests for an adventurous day ahead. The tentative plan is to head to Tongue Bay for a guided bushwalk to the Hill Inlet Lookout. There is time to explore and take pictures of this beautiful spot before heading back on board Solway Lass to enjoy lunch. After lunch, it's onwards to Whitehaven Beach with an hour set aside to relax on the largest of the Whitsundays 74 islands. Heading north now on the eastern side of Hook Island the captain will be looking for the perfect spot to set anchor for the night in one of the many surrounding bays.
Meal(s) : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 :
After breakfast this morning, there's time to enjoy a snorkel and/or glass bottom boat tour on the fringing coral reefs which extend right from the edge of the islands. These reefs are teeming with marine life and the experience is memorable for the snorkelling novice through to seasoned snorkellers. At around 11:00 am the adventure is over as we head back to Abell Point Marina.
