Upolu Cay is a naturally formed coral cay situated 30 kilometres from Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef and is the perfect location with protected, shallow waters from which to explore the reef snorkelling and scuba diving. Ocean Freedom cruises you to Upolu Cay in an hour, making it the first tour to arrive, so that you have over one hour to explore the Cay and surrounding reef uninterrupted. Try your first ever scuba dive, or for the certified diver, enjoy being guided by our qualified instructors on some of the best dive sites on the reef.
Day 1:
Your day on ocean freedom, a luxury 20-meter cruiser begins at 7:30 am when you are collected from A Finger number 5. While we take you through the introductory safety brief, kick back and enjoy a morning tea, coffee and danish pastries in our comfortable lounge as we spend the next hour cruising to Upolu Cay on the Great Barrier Reef. Ocean Freedom is the first boat to arrive at the beautiful Upolu Cay so guests will enjoy the cay uninterrupted. Surrounded by stunning turquoise water and many types of corals, reef fishes, stingrays, cucumbers and sea stars, this is a great introduction to the reef. Snorkel and dive here under the watchful eye of our safety conscious staff. All necessary assistance is provided to ensure all guests get to enjoy the reef. Lunch is served around 11:30 am consisting of a self-serve buffet. Help yourself to a mixed meat and chicken platter, prawns, smoked salmon, salads and a selection of breads. While lunch is being enjoyed we cruise to our second site - the amazing "Wonder Wall" on the Outer Edge of Upolu Reef. View many different types of hard and soft coral in addition to fans, giant clams, turtles, a huge diversity and an abundance of reef fish. Snorkel and dive here, plus enjoy an informative adventure drift snorkel tour with our Marine Naturalist. After a full six hours of unrushed pleasure on the reef and Cay, cruise home while our crew serve a sumptuous selection of tropical fruit, cheese and crackers and the decadent cake platter - the ultimate way to wind down after a magical day on the one and only Great Barrier Reef.
