Those short on time but not a sense of adventure will want to jump on this 8 day tour of China! Let us handle your exploration of China and give you an authentic experience while visiting this unique destination. 


Itinerary

Day 1: Hong Kong
Meet your group and first Adventure Leader in the Hostel Reception of Yes Inn at Yau Ma Tei. Travel up to Victoria Peak and enjoy a view of Hong Kong from above. Pre-departure briefing on top of Victoria Peak. Depart from the Yes Inn to cross the border and board your train to Guilin. This is the last time and chance to meet your group if you’ve missed the 7:00 am departure. Board your 3-hour bullet train to Guilin. You have the choice to have dinner at this point or enjoy a meal in Yangshuo two hours from now. Check-in (time may vary depending on whether the group decides to have dinner in Guilin, or Yangshuo).

Day 2: Yangshuo- 2-5
Try your hand at cooking up some traditional Chinese foods at a friendly and practical local cuisine institute. We have a group lunch followed by a cruise down the Yulong River on Chinese style gondolas - bamboo rafts. Bikes are included here to ride around. You can also opt to add other activities, including cormorant fishing, bike ride to Moon Hill and a cave complex including mudbaths and hot springs, deep water soloing, rock climbing, traditional Chinese therapies such as hot cupping, kayaking on the Li River, visit adventure leader's home village.

Day 3: Yangshuo- 2-5
Try your hand at cooking up some traditional Chinese foods at a friendly and practical local cuisine institute. We have a group lunch followed by a cruise down the Yulong River on Chinese style gondolas - bamboo rafts. Bikes are included here to ride around. Day 5: Yangshuo- 2-5

You can also opt to add other activities, including cormorant fishing, bike ride to Moon Hill and a cave complex including mudbaths and hot springs, deep water soloing, rock climbing, traditional Chinese therapies such as hot cupping, kayaking on the Li River or visit adventure leader's home village then take a minibus to North Bus Station and board your bus to Guilin. Say goodbye to your second Adventure Leader and board train to Chengdu.

Day 6: Chengdu 6-8
Arrive in Chengdu and meet your next Adventure Leader, before transferring by metro to your hostel. There are heaps of options for activities while you're in Chengdu. Get a massage from a blind masseuse, Mandarin lesson with your adventure leader, watch a traditional Sichuan opera performance, gather up to go see the Pandas at the world’s main, and biggest, Giant Panda Breeding & Research Center, leave to Leshan to see the world’s largest stone Buddha, wander Jinli street and the Tibetan districts independently (Chengdu is right next to Tibet, or Xizang in Mandarin, so there is a large ethnic community here), sample the famous Sichuan Hot Pot if you dare, have a night out in Chengdu, visit Wenshu Monastery, Sichuan Province Museum, People’s Park and a traditional Tea House Take. The choice is yours!

Day 7: Chengdu 6-8

Additional Costs:

  • Some meals are included, others must be purchased at an additional cost
  • Accommodation is not provided the night before Day 1 of your trip or for the night of the last day of your trip
  • Some activities included. Extra activities offered at own expense
  • Any train/bus tickets for journeys made after the trip- we provide a booking service at a cost of 30 RMB per ticket booked, on top of the price of the ticket
  • Upgrade to a private room: single, double and twin rooms

  • The pre-departure briefing is in the lobby of Yes Inn at Yau Ma Tei in Hong Kong at 7:00 am on the first day of the trip. The address is 1B Wing Sing Ln, Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong. Bring your luggage with you as you can leave it in Yes Inn whilst you hike
  • A visa is required for China, so once you’ve made your booking with us, we will send you detailed instructions on applying for your visa, a visa invitation letter and a detailed itinerary, and a number of other items in your booking packet
  • We require all our customers to have backpackers travel insurance for this trip
