Participate in an authentic indigenous experience, swim beneath waterfalls, explore rainforests and be left awestruck at the massive cathedral termite mounds at Litchfield National Park!
Spend an entire day exploring the beautiful Litchfield National Park and experience a genuine Australian Indigenous cultural experience, with your indigenous host showing you their family owned business, that has been passed on for generations and a basic history lesson about their culture. You will be given the opportunity to learn first hand about one of the oldest cultures in the world and gain some local knowledge of the area before heading on towards Litchfield National Park.
When you arrive at the National Park, you will be given the opportunity to explore the area, which is filled with stunning waterfalls and sparkling swimming holes and, extensive hiking tracks where you can explore the beautiful surrounding monsoon rainforest. You will also get to see one of the favourite attractions at the National Park, the massive cathedral termite mounds, which often leave visitors awestruck at their size and complexity.
You will be collected at 7am from your Darwin Accommodation before the adventure begins! We will start travelling towards our first stop, where we visit our Aboriginal hosts, who will provide you with some first hand knowledge of their amazing ancient culture, beautiful landscapes, bush tucker and didjeridoo and clapstick demonstrations. One of the highlights of the visit is the presentation of the various uses for native plants for medicinal purposes, you will be left particularly surprised about how common and helpful some of this native Flora really is as you discover even more as you explore the National Park.
As we say goodbye to our hosts, we will start travelling towards the massive cathedral and magnetic termite mounds, where you will be left in awe at their soaring arches, expansive tunnels and massive chimneys that can stand as high as 6 meters.
Next stop is the centre of the Litchfield National Park, where you can explore with your newly gained local knowledge of the native plants and wildlife. You can discover the beautiful Florence and Wangi waterfalls, that soar above sparking swimming holes, perfect for a quick dip. Explore the rocky sandstone escarpments and spring fed streams, that Litchfield National Park is known for, before enjoying a tasty Australian BBQ lunch as you admire the stunning national park. Finally, you can explore the waterfalls of Buley Rockhole and discover the many nooks and crannies of the rock holes surrounding the area, before our early evening arrival back in Darwin.
